This course is designed for those administrators who are currently serving in administrative positions not physically located in a career and technical school setting. It is the summary notes version of what you need to know in terms of the differences between administration in an academic school versus a career and technical school, whether that school is comprehensive or shared time school. It will provide new career and technical administrators who only have non-career and technical teaching or administrative experience, with the foundational knowledge and applied skills necessary to lead successful CTE programs in Pennsylvania. It includes 10 hours of theory and 20 hours of job embedded assignments. The major areas of focus include: - State Regulations
- Program Development and Approval
- Funding and Budgeting
- Curriculum Design and Instructional Practices
- Teacher Recruitment and Professional Development
- Student Recruitment and Support Services
- Partnerships with Industry and Community Organizations
- Assessment and Accountability
One key value in this course is the interaction with other administrators who have served in both capacities. The course emphasizes leadership development, ensuring that Learners are equipped to drive student learning, increase student achievement, and ensure post-secondary readiness after completion of an approved career and technical education program of study.
